Orthotic Providers

Orthotics can be one of the least invasive and most successful methods of treating disorders of the feet when properly fitted. Interest both in the use of Orthotics and the provision and selling of orthotics has increased rapidly over the past number of years.

In part, this has been fueled by an aging population and increased participation in higher impact sporting activities and the use of orthotics by high-performance athletes.

All of this interest has created a potentially lucrative market and a growing number of foot orthotic providers is emerging -- each claiming to be an expert in the field or offering the "same" product.

The informed patient should be aware that the only health care provider whose mission it is to exclusively manufacture and fit foot orthotics and custom braces, is the Certified Orthotist.

All others involved in the sale of foot orthotics do so as a part of their overall practice or simply as salespeople. The level of attention and the specialized knowledge of orthotic provisioners can vary greatly. Only Certified Orthotists are recognized as experts in this the field of custom orthoses.
